Alex B @AlexBioni Aug 23 Think Outside the Box A Bug's Life is one of those movies I watched constantly as a kid, and it's just as good as I remember. The story isn't original, essentially being a kids version of Seven Samurai and The Magnificent Seven, but that's okay. The voice acting is great, and the scale of everything makes the set pieces look fantastic. Bug City in particular looks incredible. The third act and the plan to fight back are also a lot of fun. The movie flies by and never really drags. The fact that this came out in 1998 is crazy because the animation still looks great today. I also love how the bugs almost have a stop motion look to them. They aren't stop motion, but they feel like they pop off the screen. I also love that Flick is an inventor. His willingness to think outside the box despite everyone doubting him is a great message for kids. The score is fantastic too and adds to the sense of adventure. Overall, this is a fun Pixar movie that has earned its place as a classic. See more Declan D @filmbuffkid Aug 19 This movie is possibly one of the most underrated Pixar films I’ve ever seen, The animation, The cinematography, and the scale of the film looks like a painting that bob ross made. And I am conflicted about this movie because of its rival “Antz” and you can tell that Antz was copying this film, But I gotta say after rewatching both of these films, I like both of them equally and if you can ignore the comparisons of both of these movies, they can be their own separate movies, and the villain “hopper” is a phenomenal villain and the actor who voices him does it pretty good, and I like an idea of a Last Samurai-style movie, because this does take heavy inspiration from the last samurai. Plus the character development in this is pretty good and I personally love the romance that flick and atta have in this movie compared to Z and bala in Antz. And the death of hopper…. I have no words.
