D

Too violent and dark for kids but too juvenile and bland for grown-ups.

A caper movie runs on calibrated chaos. Too much randomness makes the gears grind; too little and it feels overdetermined. Ace the Case has both problems.

This kiddie crime caper promises fun, but delivers clueless disappointment instead.

Helping us suspend disbelief here is Ripley Sobo, one of the most talented little girls I've seen on screen in a long time.

Tween detective story is surprisingly violent, dark in tone.

Very upsetting to see a young child in constant risk of being kidnapped or worse. But Sobo is a fantastic actress. Everything else is meh... The little girl's Dad dies randomly. We are supposed to find the fumbling kidnappers endearing? And the dense blond has a criminal idiot boyfriend. Pretty random plot. And the rabbit... also random.

Ran into this on my TV Now app that has "TV" channels that play D-list and F-list movies and shows. Wow. This acting is atrocious! This is like only half a step above the acting from The Room. Susan Surandon is the only one doing a passable job. Did she gamble all of her money away or something?? How the hell is she in this??? Also, they dubbed english over people that were already speaking english. It's really weird. Either that or the whole movie is really bad ADR...

Fun feeling movie but some heavy themes mixed in --- though generally light hearted vibe!

If an adult viewer can suspend disbelief and put themselves in the kid's shoes, Manhattan comes off as a terrifying, terrifying ride.
