Jeff B @RT99430060 17h The 2nd Ridley Scott-led "prequel" to Alien is again a movie that we didn't need to concentrate on stuff we didn't want it to, and it effectively fails to do anything good or take the story anywhere interesting, instead meandering about doing silly stuff for the sake of blood and gore and a feel bad ending that we will never see paid off. The best thing I can say about this horrid sack of old socks is that this ISN'T Prometheus. Ridley scott can direct and Art direction is what made him a household name, but writing isnt his strong point, and it shows A LOT in both movies about Alien that he had a hand in the writing of. Alien is too important to allow it to be ruined like this. Someone please do something better See more Adam B @RT26918190 2d The worst Alien instalment. It wants to be so deep ruining all the lore by explaining the aliens origin and doing a horrible job. Felt like two movies smashed together, clearly Ridley wanted to wax poetic about creation and gods but knew to get people to see it needed to add the alien. the CGI and the Alien has never looked cheaper like an after thought, video game level CGI. Watch right after Prometheus, otherwise it can seem daunting. Michael Fassbinder is excellent as the David/Walter duality. See more Vixo S @vixo_six Aug 17 Alien: Covenant disappointed me because its best ideas are surrounded by a story that constantly tests my patience. The contrast between David and Walter is fascinating, especially through questions about creation, free will, love and whether something needs a soul to experience any of them. Michael Fassbender easily carries that side of the movie. Unfortunately, supposedly experienced characters make baffling decisions, while David’s experiments and the biology surrounding them operate with rules that are never clear enough to feel convincing. Prometheus left me wanting answers, but Covenant somehow gave me even more questions. There is plenty of ambition here, but the ideas could not save a story whose internal logic kept pulling me out of it. See more Read all reviews
