Set several centuries in the future, the abandoned Alita is found in the scrapyard of Iron City by Ido, a compassionate cyber-doctor who takes the unconscious cyborg Alita to his clinic. When Alita awakens, she has no memory of who she is, nor does she have any recognition of the world she finds herself in. As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield her from her mysterious past.

I was a fan of the IP long before the movie - I read the entire then-current run in the early Aughts, and waited anxiously while James Cameron played with his blue cats to get off his duff and make this movie he had been promising us. This isn't the film Cameron promised us - he's only the Producer on it - but it's still good. The theater wasn't packed, but I still had a big ol' smile on my face that it even existed. While the story is a bit unfocused, and the dialogue may not zing all the time (although in fairness, Alita coming off as clunky suits her, she's still an angsty teenager after all), the action, world and spectacle are all top-knotch. They even snuck in some elements from the anime episodes. Now, when do we get the sequel?
