A group of carousing American tourists is taking in the cultural landmarks of Paris when a chance encounter results in sightseer Andy McDermott (Tom Everett Scott) saving the life of Parisian Serafine Pigot (Julie Delpy). While on a date at a nightclub with Serafine, Andy is suddenly attacked and bitten by a werewolf. The next day he discovers that Serafine is also a lycanthrope, and that he is beginning his own grueling, hirsute transformation into one of the fanged beasts.

To be honest, it's a little rough actually, I have with me that the scene of the friend who appears after death is kind of a poorly done rant reference of 'Pet Sematary'. Taking into account that some scenes are rough, however, I still like this movie.

If you go into this hoping for a worthy successor to the 1981 masterpiece An American Werewolf in London, you are going to be deeply disappointed. If you go into it looking for a cheesy, late-90s time capsule to laugh at with some friends, it’s almost kind of charming in how messy it is. The biggest sin this movie commits is abandoning the legendary, bone-snapping practical effects of the original for early-generation CGI. The wolves don't look scary, it tries to balance horror, romance, and slapstick comedy, but ends up falling short in most of it. Julie Delpy is genuinely great, doing the absolute most she can with the script. It’s not unwatchable, but it’s definitely not good. Stick to the London version unless you have a high tolerance for bad CGI and extreme 90s nostalgia.

Synopsis
