Levi D @Levonhelms Oct 7, 2026 Will Ferrell gives Ron Burgundy a level of confidence that no man should have. The news team is a mess, the jokes keep coming, and the whole movie runs on pure stupidity. Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, and David Koechner make the newsroom crew even better. The fight scene alone deserves its own movie. The story takes a back seat to the jokes, and that is the right choice here. See more K G @KatyG-S Sep 20, 2026 A great comedy of 2004, but not for children. "Anchorman" obviously can be Will Ferrel's live action highlight, when comedians really are funny. Ron would be the best character. Next, I believe Christina Applegate as Veronica would be the best one in the cast with her never overacting. I do enjoy how its underbelly defies sexism where Veronica later would be the first female to report news on the mainstream. If it is a great comedy, it is bound to have iconic moments, like you do not always the microphone to play an instrument & play it anywhere. Lizzo could never top it with Sasha. So funny and impressive to learn it's most improve See more Jen N @Jennever Sep 3, 2026 The whole cast is operating at maximum lunacy. Every character seems to exist on a completely different planet, yet somehow they all collide into one glorious pileup of absurdity. And then there are the moments that come completely out of left field—the kind where you’re laughing so hard you have to pause because your brain needs a minute to catch up. Anchorman isn’t just a comedy. It’s a beautifully stupid masterpiece of controlled chaos. Stay classy, San Diego. And whatever you do, don’t eat the cheese out of the vending machine. See more TheFilmCritics @TheFilmCritics Aug 30, 2026 Comedy walks a perilous tightrope in Anchorman, and this one frequently tumbles into the abyss. Will Ferrell’s cartoonishly self-important newsman is an inspired creation, while the eccentric ensemble and anything-goes energy occasionally produce flashes of gleeful absurdity. Unfortunately, the laughs are wildly inconsistent, with repetitive gags and sketch-like detours often mistaking sheer volume for wit. The film’s treatment of sexism is especially grating, recycling its misogynistic jokes until the satire gives way to something much less clever. Christina Applegate brings welcome intelligence to Veronica, but the script squanders the potential of her rivalry with Ron. There’s undeniable cult-comedy charm here, yet the movie too often settles for randomness when sharper writing could have made its stupidity genuinely brilliant. See more Erik B @Atma-X Aug 24, 2026 A hilarious take on 70's news anchors. Chock full of A-list comedians from the time - nearly every scene in this movie is funny. Costume and set designs were very much on point, and I enjoyed seeing a lot of SoCal locations throughout. Always good fun. AEB says: 60% of the time, I would watch this movie 100% of the time. It's as fun and goofy as I remember. See more Read all reviews
