A tip of the cap to Tip Harris and Lauren London for it is their chemistry and charm which allows one to believe in their tenderhearted romance in an atmosphere where women are regarded as objects and affectionately called 'bitches' and 'hos.'

ATL (2006) has been one of my favorite movies since I was a kid. This flick was a big part of my era growing up — it just hits different with those real-life vibes about friends, family, and figuring out your future. The skating rink scenes and Atlanta energy bring back memories every time, and I love the lessons on loyalty and chasing dreams. Solid 8/10 for me — a true classic that still feels fresh.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. Growing up in the 70's hood in Chicago heading out to the burbs to skate. A little this a little that and eventually making my way out. The movie brought back lots of emotions and memories. It wasn't intense, no award winner but felt like a home movie of a great time in life.

Considering the movie takes place very close to my formidable years stomping ground. I grew up in Scottdale GA ITP inside the perimeter for those not from the A. Anyway, Tip is always Tip. Mr. Harris is Decatur. Big Boi, Killer Mike the list goes on and on. This movie may not be an Oscar banger it is a Decatur GA Oscar winner. Fo shizzy. All the Atliens out there let’s do this.

It's really a shame that T.I. didn't go on to go star in more movies, because he's a shockingly good actor that has way more talent than you'd except. He shows this off in ATL, a coming of age movie set in Atlanta (of course), backed by a 00's hip-hop soundtrack and interesting characters. It mixes teen relationships, financial problems, and drug issues together with cool effectiveness, and Lauren London is as pretty as ever. The tone can get a little uneven and the format is familiar, but at least there isn't a cliche drive-by scene, am I right? Anyways, ATL isn't something to skip, and it's a great ghetto coming of age story that thankfully doesn't dwell on the ghetto hardships and moves on to show how these people actually live and have fun.
