OOM P @OOMPod Jul 13 I really enjoyed Batman: Gotham Knight. I liked the anthology approach because it let different creators tell their own Batman stories instead of trying to force everything into one plot. Some stories were definitely stronger than others, but I never felt like any of them were a waste of time. Kevin Conroy is the biggest reason this works. He makes Batman feel consistent across every segment, even though each one has a different art style and tone. Speaking of the animation, that's easily one of the movie's biggest strengths. I loved seeing each artist's interpretation of Gotham and Batman, and some of the action scenes were genuinely great, especially the sewer fight and the Deadshot segment. The only thing holding it back is that some of the stories feel too short. A couple of them end just as they start getting really interesting, and I found myself wishing they had another ten or fifteen minutes to develop. Batman's portrayal here is absolutely sick and the plots are driven forward effectively enough to draw attention to the film's superb art. I specifically liked Batman's aesthetic in "Deadshot" and "Field Test" where the artists synthesized portrayals of Batman in the comics, Nolan's element of realism, and a number of techniques of 90s Japanese superhero animation. This film is a great addition to the interests of Batman enthusiasts and I think it remarkably contributes to society's understanding of Batman as a lone warrior of darkness fighting to impose his new order on a world eating itself apart. Christian Bake wished he was this cool. This movie explores Batman Theme and It's myth to it's perfection. This is the most comic-book accurate Batman. Even though the first anthology is weakest despite great animation and concept specially It's original Batman Comic Book storyline and BTAS episode did it way better. Other than that the rest of the anthology is damn good and masterpiece. It's Batman's philosophy at it's finest. Only brainless won't understand and appreciate this. See more Read all reviews
