Young Vivian (Agnes Bruckner) has a secret: She is a werewolf and has spent her entire life concealing it. She faces divided loyalties when she finds love with a human male named Aiden (Hugh Dancy), much to the disapproval of some of her fellow packmates, especially Gabriel (Olivier Martinez), who also desires her. But Aiden may no longer love her when she reveals her inner wolf.

Setting up a conflict between humans and lycanthropes, this inelegant adaptation of Annette Curtis Klausse's teen novel wants to be a tragedy, with the "loup garoux" - that's a fancy term for werewolves - struggling for survival in present day Romania.

A far cry from such sneakily subversive werewolf-sex tales as The Company of Wolves or Ginger Snaps, this pallid little picture is all Lost Boys posturing by way of the sublimely ridiculous Covenant.

The acting and the story were okay. The staging was less impressive at the beginning, but I found it better than all the Twilight movies, with the exception of the first.

Zero stars is what I would give it, because that's what it deserves. I only made it 20 minutes into the film and couldn't continue. The book was amazing, one of my favorites. It's like they read the book and were like, "This is good, but do you know what would make it absolutely terrible? Changing literally everything except the characters' names and turning the plot into a like of garbage."

It's not as bad as people say it is. Is it a little hammy? Absolutely. But it's perfect pass the time fantasy. The acting isn't awful nor unwatchable. I love the story and the lore.

Don't judge a book by its movie. This horrible movie shares only a title, a few character names, and the subject of werewolves with the wonderful book it was loosely inspired by.
