The screenplay is tightly written and does a strong job keeping the viewer engaged, constantly raising the stakes and shifting the direction of the story. The shocking moments, including extreme acts of violence, are intense and hard to forget, making this far from an easy watch. The director handles the material with confidence, showing both sides of the conflict without overexplaining or weakening the suspense. While some dialogue feels excessive at times, it rarely slows the momentum. The performances help sell the danger and desperation of the situation. With it's secluded dessert backdrop and the unique feature of villain it adds up to a great thriller. Despite the blood and gore it's a stark portrayal of the chain of abuse the unfortunate and unprivileged would have to endure. The evil lawman is a physical manifestation of prejudice. Bobby and Amy is an appreciation of women's struggle. Complimentary performances make this indie a success. Great audio effects and background music. Excellent visuals and special effects.
