After her father unexpectedly dies, young Ella (Lily James) finds herself at the mercy of her cruel stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and stepsisters, who reduce her to scullery maid. Despite her circumstances, she refuses to despair. An invitation to a palace ball gives Ella hope that she might reunite with the dashing stranger (Richard Madden) she met in the woods, but her stepmother prevents her from going. There are moments of CGI animal nonsense that seem to exist completely separate from the live-action beauty Branagh has created, and that awkward juxtaposition leaves the entire film feeling uneven, at times admirable, and at others condemnable.

Her hair is supposed to be dirty blonde and the ball gown dress is supposed to be silver along with the glass slippers according to the original movie. she’s never been a platinum blonde in a blue dress, can disney just get it right

This was definitely much better than the Snow White's and Pinocchio's I just watched, but it still had no reason to blow me away. At least this felt more like a remake than a reimagining.

Cinderella really proves to be a nice movie that every generation chooses to watch and it tends not to loose it excitement when it is released. I have watched it a countless times and it is great. The visuals, setting, costumes and sound all looks great. I have also read the book as many as I can and it is wonderful.

Um conto de fadas lindo de morrer, mas que joga demasiado pelo seguro. A Cinderela de Kenneth Branagh deslumbra pela opulência dos cenários, pelos figurinos magníficos e por uma Cate Blanchett divinal como madrasta. No entanto, é uma adaptação tão literal e sem riscos que acaba por saber a pouco.

Underrated! I love this movie! Still one of my favorites live-action remakes to date. Only being surpassed by the live-action Moana. Cinderella is my favorite Disney princess! I loved this take on the film. It stayed to true to the roots of the story. Was sad the mice didn’t get their voices but I did love they were still included. I was a fan of the back story and how it showed her life more in-depth as well as the princes’. My favorite princess dress! Great casting! Beautiful set! Will always have love for this movie!
