I took my grandkids 11 and 6 they both fell asleep for the last 10 minutes!!! I tried to wake them but they were out!! See more Par H @Parhwy Feb 8 In 1977, Voyagers 1 and 2 were sent into space; Star Wars was released; and Close Encounters of the Third Kind was released. Such a year! I like this film very much. I have watched it a few times. In the 70s, 80s and twice in the 2020s. My experience in the 2020s is that this film is noisy, cluttered, busy and vibrant in a mostly wonderful way. The sets, especially the interiors of houses, feel so real. The only time the noise gets too much is when Roy loses the plot. That could be because scenes of a family breaking apart is traumatic to me personally. Nonetheless, this film is iconic. I love that bend in the road scene. The musical ending scene. The UN desert scene. The Indian scene. Many others. Dreyfuss is such a good actor. I was proud to identify a subtly Jaws tune in the final scene; googled it and yep, it’s there!
