The world has been reduced to rubble by a massive earthquake. While no one knows for sure how far the ruins stretch, or what the cause of the earthquake may be, in the heart of Seoul there is only one apartment building left standing. It is called Hwang Gung Apartments. As time passes, outsiders start coming in to Hwang Gung Apartments trying to escape the extreme cold. Before long, the apartment residents are unable to cope with the increasing numbers. Feeling a threat to their very survival, the residents enact a special measure.

Fantastic film, provocative story telling. Park Seo Joon gives a performance that is on another level, so moving and nuanced. Even the song during the credits was beautiful and touching.

Exceptional story-telling of a diaster-thriller film. In other films of the same genre typically the story takes place during a disaster with loaded action shows and heroic characters. Concrete Utopia focuses on the aftermath with a realistic portrayal of human nature in their quest for survival.

A fantastically crafted allegory about empathy and collaboration vs isolationism. Though a South Korean film, it (unfortunately) captures the state of America right now.

Synopsis
