Best pals Connie (Nia Vardalos) and Carla (Toni Collette) have a song-and-dance act at a Chicago airport, but they go on the run after witnessing a murder. In Los Angeles, they glimpse the city's drag queen scene, and believing that stage success is just a wardrobe change away, they become female impersonators. They fall into a circle populated by Connie's beau, Jeff (David Duchovny), and bar owner Stanley (Ian Gomez). But the killers want to make sure the women never tell what they know.

It's almost a remake of "Some Like It Hot" with a touch of "Victor/ Victoria." Connie and Carla witness a gangland murder in Chicago and have to get out of town, just like Joe (Curtis) and Jerry (Lemmon) in "Some Like It Hot." They make it to California, where they find work at a night club -- a drag night club -- as drag queens. In other words, they're women impersonating men who are impersonating women. The hilarity ensues. Unfortunately, it probably won't be remembered as well as the other more renowned gender-benders like "Some Like It Hot," "Tootsie" and "Mrs. Doubtfire."
