Irish Republican Army member Fergus (Stephen Rea) forms an unexpected bond with Jody (Forest Whitaker), a kidnapped British soldier in his custody, despite the warnings of fellow IRA members Jude (Miranda Richardson) and Maguire (Adrian Dunbar). Jody makes Fergus promise he'll visit his girlfriend, Dil (Jaye Davidson), in London, and when Fergus flees to the city, he seeks her out. Hounded by his former IRA colleagues, he finds himself increasingly drawn to the enigmatic, and surprising, Dil.

I always enjoy a British movie, particularly from the 80s and 90s. This was no different with strong performances from Stephen Rhea and Jaye Davidson telling a story which is somewhat different to what you expect from the first 15 minutes. It's thankfully not too war heavy but the escape from it all is very much the driving force with both lead characters trying to pull away from something they are not. The twist midway is very well crafted and shocking for it's time - again amplified by the scenes previous. It's well acted, powerful and an interesting soundtrack - solid and worth a rewatch.

Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom
