Dead Media is high-concept filmmaking done on a very low budget; its actors are never lacking in spirit, either. Go to Full Review

Scrimshaw works hard to make something lively and unique, finding an interesting way to approach the usual in stalk-and-kill cinema, giving his fright film special inspiration to help it through a few mismanaged ideas. Go to Full Review

Despite a clever premise and a clear affection for horror culture, the film never quite comes together in a satisfying way. This is a good idea that needed more discipline. Go to Full Review

This is Scrimshaw’s first film as a writer-director, and as flabby as parts of Dead Media are, his enthusiasm is both understandable and infectious. Go to Full Review

Bryce H @RT57910477 2 days ago I'll be the first to admit that horror movies are not generally my jam. But it's October, and I was in the mood for a fright. I didn't know exactly what to expect when I streamed this movie about a haunted DVD. What I got were plenty of laugh out loud moments, the nostalgia of spinning an actual DVD, and memories of movie nights with friends, arguing about what movie to rent. Dead Media provided just enough creepiness and gore to warrant its place in the horror genre, and enough humor and heart to make me want to watch this film on an ACTUAL DVD. Hopefully I will have that opportunity in the future. See more Paul L @RT49623322 3 days ago Watch and enjoy this zombie horror flick with a new spin via a haunted DVD! Despite the modern setting, there’s a retro vibe with a hint of camp. Just enough blood, guts, and haunted dust to satisfy your thirst for terror and peppered with subtle references and homage. Pretty sure the actors had a good time with this film, and it paid off for the writer/director, Joseph Scrimshaw. Don’t Watch this one alone though - its best enjoyed with friends. So, grab something drinkable, and maybe something edible. And until you can spin this on physical media, stream this screamer, have fun, but watch the special features at your own peril!
