Designed by Preeti is an inspiring drama about finding the courage to start over. Preeti Kumar, an Indian immigrant in her 50s, has spent decades trapped in an emotionally abusive marriage. At its center is a woman in her 50s trying to regain her agency after spending years in a relationship that has dictated almost every aspect of her life. It takes a familiar dramatic route, but turns that familiar foundation into an emotional and ultimately feel-good story about independence, reinvention, and finding happiness on your own terms. Ultimately, Designed by Preeti succeeds more through its emotional journey than its originality. The story may follow familiar territory, but Preeti’s journey toward independence, self-expression, and happiness remains satisfying to watch.
