After a brutal breakup at a high-school graduation party, lovelorn Ohio teen Scott Thomas (Scott Mechlowicz) goes on a quest across Europe to find his sexy German pen pal, Mieke (Jessica Boehrs). Joining him are his brainless buddy (Jacob Pitts) and a pair of twins (Travis Wester, Michelle Trachtenberg) they meet up with in Paris. Scott's quest does not turn out to be easy, however, and the backpackers become embroiled in many farcical situations as they hop from country to country.

Easily one of the most underrated films of it's time. This movie is hilariously offensive and entertaining. Great coming of age film that captures the sexual struggles of high school students that will keep you laughing from start to finish. Best part of all there's not a single ounce of woke themes or agendas, just a funny movie. Perhaps if you have the sense of humor of a burnt piece of toast and get offended by jokes then it may not be your cup of tea. Still, the entire cast does a great job and the movie successfully captures something that has been lost in modern films. Not "xenophobic", just shows outrageous people from different cultures.

Scotty doesn’t know is the only highlight from this truly bad and xenophobic laden film of poorly researched embarrassment. So bad it’s hard to imagine this got released but tells you the standard of teen movie that proliferated in the early noughties. Watched on DVD.

This movie is more than what you see, and the song Scotty doesn’t know after so many years still in my playlist. Some great actors were there with a different vibe and doing something different that they won’t normally do. If you can’t see that and just see the typical teenager trying to get laid then you have failed as a critic.

Synopsis
