Kubrick's final film is unique in his oeuvre for concluding on a note of apparent affirmation. Go to Full Review

This is finally a film that is better at mood than substance, that has its strongest hold on you when it's making the least amount of sense. Go to Full Review

It's empty of ideas, which is fine, but it's also empty of heat. Go to Full Review

Even with its superb sense of unease and the idea that it’s steadily crafting a galvanizing conspiracy, it wanders off on tangents. Go to Full Review

“The women involved have been silenced before and will be forgotten again,” Ritzenhoff said. “It is the drama around male privilege that has the entertainment value.” Go to Full Review

Eyes Wide Shut still has an eerie mood that is purely Kubrickian. His smooth, neon-lit world and its unhappy residents are compelling, even addictive. Go to Full Review

Dominick 12/24/2024 No matter the debate over just how complete it is or what it’s trying to say, Eyes Wide Shut remains a remarkable achievement in a filmography stacked with them. It perfectly encapsulates the many sides and moods of Stanley Kubrick, flitting with dreamlike sensibilities, dark humor, stark cinematography and thematic ambiguity See more Rene M 12/13/2024 Greatest film of all time See more Mirko T @pro-secco 23h he sayed all and nothing at the same time and i fucking love it this part, but the film has times very slow, and this is the only terrible part of this film See more Ben N @Bneffer 1d Whew... this is a different movie. I think it helps to know why you are watching this movie. It is easy to judge the movie - as pornographic or exploitive. I think the hyper sexualization is meant to make you feel uncomfortable, and I get some people don't dig that. But I'd offer that it is important to feel uncomfortable to explore perspectives you haven't engaged with before. Or to this depth before. Overall the film is about how you lay yourself bare to the one you are closest to, you are harboring a dissatisfaction that will come out in one way or another. The way it plays out for the characters is heightened and dramatic, for the film, but the underlying truth is valid. I enjoyed following the exploits of the characters, especially the doctor, as he realizes what he is really after. See more Valerie K @ValNK 2d Visually stunning, but didn't really care about any of the characters. I suppose in a way that was the goal.
