Sheep C @RT39973222 3d I've always had a soft spot for this movie. I feel like it was and still is over-hated. I didn't mind that the environmental themes were a bit heavy-handed, especially nowadays with the way global warming is going. Tim Curry was AMAZING as the voice of Hexxus. The worst part imo was Robin William's character and that is more an indictment of how annoying the character is and not his voice work. Was the rap song really necessary guys? Jeesh. Explaining the concepts of pollution and deforestation through whimsical elements such as talking bats, and fairies was a very smart choice to introduce children to these ever present environmental issues in our world. The villain being a personification of common pollutants voiced by the always fantastic Tim Curry was a great way to characterize to children the dangers of pollution upon the worlds climate. Having a main human character Zach also experience everything going on first hand helps to give younger audiences a point of view story wise showing how anyone can learn and help make a difference to protect the environment. The inclusion of the songs helps to give audience members hummable ear worms that can help them remember what the film is teaching, and how they can apply it in the real world. After watching it as an adult, there are definitely some problems with it, but it is still a good time. Tim Curry slays the role of the villain though. Musical numbers highlighting the genius of Robin Williams and Tim Curry (rip to both). The animators, script writers, and song writers have made one of the hallmark films of the 90s.
