See more TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Aug 20 Firehouse Dog is, in all fairness, an absolutely awful movie. The entire premise of a celebrity dog with a hairpiece going missing already feels ridiculous, but unfortunately, the movie never manages to turn that ridiculous concept into something genuinely funny or entertaining. Instead, it feels like an older family film desperately trying to capture a certain style without understanding what made those movies work. The humor rarely landed for me, and the story quickly became more frustrating than enjoyable. The acting was also a major problem. Outside of the child cast, I didn’t think many of the performances did enough to make the material believable or even remotely engaging. However, the screenplay is where everything really fell apart. The writing was so weak that it became almost impossible to take the story seriously or become invested in what was happening.
