Once a ruthless businessman and bootlegger who ruled Chicago with an iron fist, Alfonse Capone was the most infamous and feared gangster of American lore. At the age of 47, following nearly a decade of imprisonment, dementia rots Alfonse's mind and his past becomes present. Harrowing memories of his violent and brutal origins melt into his waking life. As he spends his final year surrounded by family with the FBI lying in wait, this ailing patriarch struggles to place the memory of the location of millions of dollars he hid away on his property.

Tom Hardy makes the most of his opportunity to tackle a challenging role, but Capone is too haphazardly constructed to support his fascinating performance.

It doesn't completely work and lacks complexity, but Capone is scene-for-scene more interesting than many slicker films. Hardy's swing-for-the-fences performance is a must-see.

Dropping its leash on a star who needs one, the film mistakes decrepitude for drama, and the closest it gets to mid-scene narrative suspense is wondering whether Al Capone has just let himself go with a number one or two.

Personally speaking, I hope Trank continues to make films just as experimental and divisive as Capone. It’s refreshing to see a film that doesn’t simply exist to make a studio a hefty profit...

We could not finish it. Got to see past his hallucination of the party in the basement and everyone getting killed. We love Tom Hardy in everything else we've seen him in. This one, though, bored us senseless.

It's far from great but no where near as bad as some folks have said, being an uneven albeit interesting mess. Still, CAPONE is honestly best solely as an acting extravaganza, with Tom Hardy being absolutely compelling & Linda Cardellini always a joy to watch.

Massive waste of time. This movie had the thinnest, least developed, poorest excuse for a plot I've ever witnessed (even Ishtar was better and I thought that was the worst movie I'd ever seen.) It was just an hour and a half (ish) excuse to fit as much shock and gross with zero character development. Do NOT waste one minute on this disgusting excuse for entertainment.
