You have to read about Attenborough’s deep commitment to the subject, because you couldn’t guess it from what’s on the screen. There is no trace of a point of view; the film feels as if it were directed by a committee.

One of the best biopic films I've ever seen in my life. Richard Attenborough directs the movie beautifully and Ben Kingsley gives a standout performance as the lead that led him to an Oscar for Best Actor. Kingsley not only acts amazingly but he also looks like Gandhi, two things that are not always achieved in biopic films.

Wow, this one really took me by surprise. I really wasn't expecting to like this one as much as I did. Gandhi was a person I knew basically nothing about, and this film really helped me learn something new. I have to give the biggest props to Ben Kingsley. He absolutely emerged into this role. There were so many times I had to remind myself this is an actor and not the real guy. Definitely one of the best character portrayals I've seen. The movie itself was very well paced and sent out a powerful message. This has made me want to research Gandhi more.

A classically made biopic epic. It really is remarkable how deep Kingsley falls into the role. Beyond the lead performance and the expected quality of the filmmaking I'm not sure much stood out here to remember.

Gandhi is one of the most important Historical Figures of the 20th century, and I'm proud to say his movie absolutely does him justice. Ben Kingsley is a legendary actor and portrays Gandhi like I believe no other could. At the 1982 Oscars, Gandhi won 8 Awards for Best Picture, Best Actor (Ben Kingsley), Best Director (Richard Attenborough), Best Original Screenplay (John Briley), Best Cinematography (Billy Williams, Ronnie Taylor), Best Film Editing (John Bloom), Best Art Direction-Set Decoration (Stuart Craig, Bob Laing, Michael Seirton), and Best Costume Design (John Mollo, Bhanu Athaiya). All of which i belive were well diservered.Gandhi is truly a special film that i hope will be a respected and well watched film for years to come.
