A terrific showcase for Phillips, who delivers the sort of lived-in performance that garners awards. Go to Full Review

Grashaw’s direction looks both gritty and great all at once, with lots of heavy shots landing hard. Go to Full Review

Grashaw lays the misery on thick... [but] Phillips works overtime to ground the film in a something more profoundly human, delivering a terrific performance in a film that would feel too irredeemably one-note and underwhelming in his absence. Go to Full Review

Turns a familiar crime thriller into a gripping, culturally authentic exploration of community, trauma, and accountability. Go to Full Review

It’s a genre piece that expertly drills into real-world issues, and shows us that the outskirts of both the country and the law is a dangerous place to be. Go to Full Review

Gangland works best in the grey areas, where the story is not just about right or wrong. The result is a tragic thriller about community policing, identity, and the weight of history that is quite profound. Go to Full Review

Peter W @RT12077588 Oct 24, 2026 Gangland is a strong crime drama built around character, community, and relationships rather than action and spectacle. Anchored by an outstanding performance from Lou Diamond Phillips, the film succeeds thanks to its authentic setting, compelling characters, rewarding mystery elements, and emotionally satisfying story. Teddy is a genuinely memorable protagonist whose leadership, compassion, and understanding make him one of the film's greatest strengths. While the deliberate pacing may not appeal to everyone, those willing to invest in the story will find a rewarding and engaging experience filled with meaningful themes surrounding family, loyalty, justice, and community. Combined with strong performances from Dana Namerode and Nick Stahl, effective direction from Vincent Grashaw, and several genuinely surprising developments, Gangland proves itself to be far more than a simple crime drama. It's a thoughtful and emotionally grounded story that lingers long after the credits roll. See more Rian M @SoloUtilitaRian Oct 18, 2026 Loved this one. Following reservation cops completely breaks the usual cookie-cutter formula, giving it a whole new edge. It keeps you guessing from start to finish—you honestly haven't got a clue where it's heading, but you're more than happy to just buckle up and go along for the ride. To top it all off, it sticks the landing with a brilliant ending. Absolute quality watch. See more Jack M @JackMiehof Sep 21, 2026 Training Day for tribal cops. Gritty cop movie set on a Native American reservation, with a great performance by Lou Diamond Phillips. See more jonathan D @RT15746915 Sep 16, 2026 It's definitely gritty, it's grounded, and it's sadly, entirely too accurate. One of the best performances of Lou Diamond's career. If you like a cat and mouse thriller, with corruption, blurred lines, and family, this has it. It plays like an dark indie cop drama, slow burning, only to take you on an unexpected road. See more Gloid L @gloidbreal Aug 29, 2026 Dark. Gritty. Bloody. Tragic. Very well acted. Very well directed. This is a movie that deserves your attention.
