Ford Brody (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), a Navy bomb expert, has just reunited with his family in San Francisco when he is forced to go to Japan to help his estranged father, Joe (Bryan Cranston). Soon, both men are swept up in an escalating crisis when Godzilla, King of the Monsters, arises from the sea to combat malevolent adversaries that threaten the survival of humanity. The creatures leave colossal destruction in their wake, as they make their way toward their final battleground: San Francisco.

Now, Monsterverse Fans criticize this movie because of Godzilla's limited screentime and I can understand why that could be very frustrating...but I honestly don't care as much! I think this movie does a great "less is more" approach so when Godzilla is there, it looks more impressive...and speaking of Godzilla, I think they do a good job with his scenes, the cinematography is from the people perspective making it feel even more terrifying. But that doesn't mean this movie is perfect. I find the main protagonist, Ford Brody very stiff and uninteresting, and very much the same for all the other human characters...except Bryan Craston. I thought he brought some emotional weight to the story BUT they sadly kill him off early. Also, I find it annoying whenever it looks like a big fight scene is about to happen, the movie moves on to the next scene, and whenever there is something happening, it just goes dark. So Godzilla (2014) isn't a bad movie BUT not good either. It's a 50/50.

7.0/10 In hindsight, we were too harsh on this one (though it still has some problems). The movie has a strong story and is definitely the best written story of the Monsterverse....it just has the most flat and boring humans to buoy it.
