Though Goofy always means well, his amiable cluelessness and klutzy pratfalls regularly embarrass his awkward adolescent son, Max. When Max's lighthearted prank on his high-school principal finally gets his longtime crush, Roxanne, to notice him, he asks her on a date. Max's trouble at school convinces Goofy that he and the boy need to bond over a cross-country fishing trip like the one he took with his dad when he was Max's age, which throws a kink in his son's plans to impress Roxanne.

This movie is excellent for the little ones up through the preteen years. They'll like the slapstick, the wild and wacky antics of a cartoon cross-country adventure and Max's quest to be cool at school.

Although A Goofy Movie resurrects a major character of the Disney short cartoons of the 30s-50s - the gormless canine star, Goofy - viewers expecting a nostalgic recreation of the old-fashioned, small-town world he once lived in are in for a shock.

Watching A Goofy Movie as an adult brings a whole different meaning. I come to understand how Goofy and Max feel about each other. And how their relationship evolves through the film. There's a reason this movie is a disney classic

A nostalgic favorite from my childhood that hits completely different as a parent. As a kid, I understood Max wanting independence and feeling like Goofy just didn’t get him. Watching it now with my own kids, I understand Goofy too, and some of those scenes really get to me. It’s difficult realizing your kids are growing up and learning when to let go. Still one of my go-to movies at 40, and the soundtrack still holds up. Great for all generations.
