Writer-director Andrew Bergman has a rare talent for intelligently conceived farce, and he has plenty of fun with the premise. Go to Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times Jan 1, 2000

The plot is dumb enough to be a sitcom, but Bergman isn't dumb enough to make it one; he has a way of finding comedy in the urgency of driven characters. Go to Full Review Rachel Wagner Hallmarkies Podcast Mar 23, 2025

Daniel F @RT14036283 Jul 19, 2026 Fun 90s romcom. A guilty pleasure of mine. See more Frans B @FransB Nov 20, 2025 Andrew Bergman did good with this one. Nicolas Cage, James Caan and Sarah Jessica Parker all shines convincingly in character. Great story, well written and screwball enough to generate some laughs. Lots of action, drama, silliness and suspense to keep you occupied. Good cinematography and visually quite appealing See more Jean W @jeanjeanjeanjeanjean Oct 8, 2025 well cant lie my favorite type of comedy flick, you can laugh and feel fuzzy and dream about marrying rich with a lobotomy See more Trafalgar L @TDWaterLaw93 Feb 14, 2024 The story of one bride and two grooms. Jack Singer (Nicolas Cage) is a commitment phobic detective madly in love with his girlfriend Betsy Nolan (Sarah Jessica Parker), but due to a promise made to his mother on her deathbed he is unable to truly make her happy. One night Jack throws caution to the wind and decides to marry her in Las Vegas, but when wealthy mobster Tommy Korman (James Can) notices that Betsy bears a striking resemblance to his late wife Donna he hatches a scheme. Using a poker game to con Jack and make him owe $65,000. Tommy however will forgive the debt if Jack lets him spend time with Betsy. But, he must act fast before Tommy snatches her away for good. Loaded with an Elvis heavy soundtrack, this is a pretty funny screwball comedy that has everything you'd expect and unexpect. See more Alec B @Alec97 Dec 13, 2023 The plot is centered on a good enough idea that should work as an offbeat romantic comedy, but it just never becomes as fun or as funny as the film promises. See more mike g @RT73155044 Jul 9, 2022 A comedy classic that never got its due. Nick Cage and Jimmy Caan are their best selves in this funny, tightly written and fast moving '92 time capsule. Outstanding Elvis score and a constant parade of character actors makes this a helluva fun time. See more Read all reviews
