When monsters want to get away from it all, they go to Count Dracula's (Adam Sandler) Hotel Transylvania, a lavish resort where they can be themselves without humans around to bother them. On one special weekend, Dracula invites creatures like the Invisible Man, the Mummy and others to celebrate the 118th birthday of his daughter, Mavis (Selena Gomez). However, an unforeseen complication unfolds when an ordinary human unwittingly crashes the party and falls in love with Mavis.

Critics Consensus

Hotel Transylvania's buoyant, giddy tone may please children, but it might be a little too loud and thinly-scripted for older audiences.

The characters and story, forged by six different directors and many more writers over a six-year-production stint, leave little room for Tartakovsky tricks and tics.

Comedy gothic isn't exactly novel, and frankly there is a sense here of a movie coasting along on Halloween hype-marketing, without providing as many laughs and ideas as it really could have done.

No one does saccharine like Adam Sandler. The man can be sharp, angry and funny - but when he lays on the sweetness, it's like drowning in an avalanche of Tate & Lyle.

An animated feature with Adam Sandler providing the voice of Dracula sounds like strength-sapping kryptonite to anyone with a modicum of taste, but Hotel Transylvania turns out to be a fairly pleasant surprise.

Hotel Transylvania isn't a brilliant animated feature, but it is a consistently entertaining one with Sandler's trademark silliness mixed with sweetness.

Suck MY Blood This is a cute, funny family movie. It's basically an animated Adam Sandler movie, with him and his usual friends bringing their comedy to a family audience. Jonathan's questions are hilarious, like whether Mavis's clothes shrink when she turns into a bat or if his arm would disappear inside the Invisible Man's mouth. Under the surface, this is a coming of age story with heart. Mavis wants to explore the world, while her protective father wants to keep her safe. It's also like Elemental, with two people from different worlds falling for each other despite their differences. The unique monster hotel and Universal's classic horror characters make this a great October watch with the family. It's cheesy and cliché, with some immature humor like fart jokes. The voice acting is fine, and the story isn't groundbreaking, but the setting and concept are fun and original. It's a cute, feel good movie I'd recommend for family friendly Halloween entertainment.

It was fine. I only liked the other monsters and funsies. Contrarily, idk where the storyline was meant to go... considering drac had some issues and honestly I couldn't feel a motive behind it except the parental love. Anyways, I still liked the animation.
