In 2005, average in every way private Joe Bowers (Luke Wilson) is selected to take part in a secret military experiment to put him in hibernation for a year along with a woman named Rita (Maya Rudolph). The slumbering duo is forgotten when the base they are stored on is closed down and are left in stasis until 2505. When they finally wake up, they discover the average intelligence of humans has decreased so much that Joe is now the smartest man in the world.

1984 meets Dumb and Dumber in this hilarious sci-fi flick. This movie is incredible! This is one of the most hilarious and creative dystopian sci-fi movies I have ever watched. In this day and age, this movie feels more like a cautionary tale than a work of satirical fiction, but it was still an incredibly entertaining and enjoyable movie, and I had so much fun watching it. I definitely recommend it for comedy and sci-fi fans!

Sophomoric satire that, sadly, rises to the level of prophecy. A crude mirror for any democracy teetering on the edge, where ignorance is weaponized and power worshipped. Required viewing for anyone who still believes critical thought is worth saving.
