Peter S @RT79715296 Aug 27 I remember feeling this way about a movie forty years ago: Prizzi's Honor. Like this one, it was universally acclaimed by critics, with only one dissenting voice I saw, in a Dallas paper, calling it what I think it was: a "smartass stinker." So is this, with the same technical flawlessness and the same absence of substance in the plot (despite its smugly self-satisfied tone) to justify the dirty, dismal feeling it produces throughout; the stunning photography and exquisite acting are in the service of an unredeemed stinker of a script, amounting to nothing but a very bad time. The characters are all horrible people (I know that's the point) and the message it sends, kill influencers is bad. Georgia Campbell is only in it for 10 minutes! I have to admit, though, that it stands on its own—you don't need to have seen the first one. The script is very clever, and the killer is unhinged yet highly intelligent. I’ll admit I found myself rooting for her—I’m all for wiping out so many of those shallow, greedy influencers—but the film falls short of being truly wonderful due to some loose ends and editing that feels a bit tedious for such a simple plot.
