lolblog T @RT47829063 Oct 22, 2026 a very ridicolous, childish, annoying movie, the whole plot was a waste of time, 0 out of 10 See more Irene M @igawel Sep 18, 2026 September, 2026 Saw it at Coolidge Corner. I knew so many of the scenes that I must have seen it multiple times, however, I think I saw an edited version, on TV? where the dog was named "Stupid". Bernadette Peters has a lovely voice. See more Rafi M @RT61647557 Sep 13, 2026 Steve Martin is so sincere, genuine and handsome, and the chemistry with Bernadette Peters is so lovely and convincing, that the preposterous premise of the film is forgotten in the stream of interesting characters and situations and the sweet romance. The scene of him in the tub with the 'Mr.Bubble' box behind him, singing: "I’m picking out a thermos for you - Not an ordinary thermos for you - the extra-best thermos, with vinyl and stripes and a cup built right in, -- a barometer and a rear-end thermometer" pushes the envelope of creativity about as far as I've seen, short of Lewis Carroll. I was skeptical at first, but I found 'The Jerk' to be a delightfully happy surprise of a movie. See more Melissa L @Agent99 Aug 14, 2026 It was okay, but I can't help but feel that it's a little racist. See more Landon J @Minxsykitty Jul 29, 2026 Just like the last Martin movie I watched "The Man with two brains" this feels like such a disappointment. Bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad. Not just boring, but painfully crass. No redeeming qualities. See more R T @crillovision Jul 3, 2026 The team of Carl Reiner and Steve Martin made four comedies that are near pitch perfect in both yok deliveries and concepts hitherto unexplored. The Jerk started off the parade and is probably the best introductory flick for a new to the screen comedian I can think of, although Dangerfield's "Easy Money" is in the same league. The title character embodies the onstage Martin - you know the guy with the arrow through his head. He is the perfect fool and throughout never flinches from going full bore. There are so many original catch phrases throughout but my favorite is still "It's not about the money - it's about the stuff". I suspect most comedians having the success Martin had with this would have run with the same type character in follow-up films but next for him and his director was the brilliant "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid". The rest of his career has always been involved in almost highbrow comedy by comparison but here he shines in antics straight from vaudeville or silents. See more Read all reviews
