“Khalifa” sees filmmaker Vysakh reaching for Shaji Kailas/Joshiy-style ambition, but lacks the fire of legends’ early blockbusters. Go to Full Review

A hollow spectacle, Khalifa might even make one wonder where it all went wrong, as the story had pretty much all the elements for a serviceable mass entertainer. However, the shallow writing and uninspired direction strip the film of its little potential. Go to Full Review
Vishal Menon The Hollywood Reporter India Aug 20
Despite the time and the money the film spends to make us feel the enormity of this moment, we’re exhausted by how little the team goes on to do with what could have been a cool premise. Go to Full Review

Prithviraj has evidently put in a lot of physical effort for the character, there is nothing much he could have done with such a screenplay. Go to Full Review

Robin Aug 23 The James Bejoy background score, Prithviraj’s intense fight scenes and swag, and the goated ending cameos make this movie a great theater experience! See more Noel Aug 23 Action packed. Prithviraj acting on point...Great setup to sequel! See more arvind S @Arvind100 Aug 25 I now understand why Prithviraj gave interviews & promoted I, Nobody much more than Khalifa. He saw the quality of the former compared to the run of the mill content in Khalifa. Though I, Nobody failed at the BO, I still believe that is a much superior movie. Khalifa is something that we have seen umpteen times. A very 2000s-coded movie about smuggling, revenge and politics with Prithviraj and Jakes Bejoy trying to salvage whatever they can. Khalifa's songs are great, but the movie doesn't deserve them. Renji Panicker's performance is the only one I actually liked. Sanju Sivaram, Indrans, Shammi Thilakan are underutilised. The less that is said about Neil Nitin Mukesh's character the better. The Oberoi family (Vivek/Suresh) continue their collaboration with Prithvi yet again. The Mohanlal cameo is good but don't expect a sequel for this. Khalifa gives us what we expected - an outdated story with its lead struggling to carry the movie on his very able shoulders.
