Critics Consensus

It's pure formula, but thanks to its breezy pace and a pair of charming performances from Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, Knight and Day offers some agreeably middle-of-the-road summer action.

Having seen the film, I can only shake my head at the studio's optimism.

Knight and Day is a bit too long (one too many plot twists that made you just not care by the end) but it's fun though predictable thrill ride.

Underrated film. Such a fun movie. The banter is great.

It's the Hitchcockian "wrong man" theme played as a Hollywood action lark, all momentum and spectacle and no mortal risk or moral confusion...

Though it won’t hold up under a closer inspection of the plot, its fast-paced nature supplies an almost perfect blend of laughs and action to the summer moviegoer.

I enjoyed this movie very much I think the chemistry between Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise is enchanting and the movie is exciting and fun to watch. I bought a copy and I’ve watched it a number of times if you want something that is light and relaxing this is a movie for you. I’m not one for scary or horror movies and I found this very acceptable.

Knight and Day is fine. I can’t believe I watched this film three times. I don’t think there’s another 3-star film I’ve done this with. Sometimes it’s funny, other times it’s cringe. The action is pretty insane, sometimes even too ambitious where they had to use lots of CGI, which was visible. The directing doesn’t always work, but at the end of the day, I had a fun time with this film. The cinematography is ambitious in the action, and it has the texture and color of celluloid film that modern cheesy action films lack. The vfx isn’t terrible, but very overused and for a 16 year old film, that makes it too visible. The casting is great, the actors’ charisma carries this movie.

This is one of my favorite action romcoms. I know a lot of people don't like it. I find the near absurdity of the whole situation the best part. It's quite an amazing movie when you watch it for what it is and have no expectations of it being like some major action movie and especially not a serious movie. It's more along the lines of National Treasure, Battleship, or even Hudson Hawk, though not as campy as Hudson Hawk
