Now known as the Dragon Warrior, Po protects the Valley of Peace alongside his friends and fellow kung fu masters, the Furious Five. However, a dangerous villain threatens Po's awesome new life with plans to use a secret weapon to wipe out the martial art and conquer China. In order to defeat the new enemy, Po finds he must recall his past and unlock secrets of his mysterious origins; only then will he find the strength to vanquish his foe.

This time, we have a film that deals with some new themes: “your origins do not define your present or future”, “let go of the past”, or “obsession with revenge brings nothing new with it”. Valuable lessons for the kids, of course. Full review in Spanish.

This sequel doesn't disappoint and explains how Po became the son of a noodle-making gander while Po learns how to find inner peace. While I loved the anthropomorphic animals in the first film, I initially thought the wolves were hyenas.

A sequel that hits like a cannonball Kung Fu Panda 2 looks and sounds incredible. The animation is bold and expressive, the action choreography is creative and easy to follow, and even the larger set pieces stay stylish, right down to smart design choices like the cannonballs. The score and sound design give every hit real weight, while the voice cast is uniformly excellent. Gary Oldman’s Lord Shen is a top-tier DreamWorks villain, driven by obsession and brought to life with a chilling voice performance. The film also earns its emotional moments through coherent character motivation and a sincere personal arc for Po, balancing humor and heart with impressive control.

This sequel to an already amazing movie significantly builds on the story of the first movie, with darker themes being introduced and an explanation to Po’s backstory being started that carried on to the next movie. Dreamworks took what was wrong with Tai Lung, the antagonist of the first film, and worked it out when writing Shen, who is developed better and is given less of a reason to vengeful, making him a better overall villain than Tai Lung. 8/10 movie overall.
