The soccer scenes are especially disappointing, though, since the filmmakers’ use of AI only creates a disturbing Uncanny Valley effect. Go to Full Review

East-West cultural contrasts make Kung Fu Soccer slightly remote -- Chow plays fast and facetiously with field rules as he exaggerates the ruthlessness of game play -- but the film’s thrust is pleasure, plus skill and emotion. Go to Full Review

The whole thing is console-coded, a living-room, controller-in-hand fantasy that feels quaint in the age of PC gaming. Whether that’s a flaw or a feature depends on whether you ever fought over the second controller. Go to Full Review

The sports action is entertaining despite its ridiculously dodgy CGI, but a half-hearted spectacle is hardly worth the journey when the writing and pacing are so disastrous. Go to Full Review

A general audience will get some laughs. But die-hard fans of Chow might have been hoping for new twists, be it a new take on the distinctly Hong Kong absurdist slapstick comedy (Mo Lei Tau) or a freshly invented comedic form to excite them. Go to Full Review

If you’re looking for a film you can sit back and relax with while enjoying some outrageous gags and surprising cameos, then you cannot go wrong here. It’s not perfect, but it is undeniably a fun time. Go to Full Review

Grace Oct 26, 2026 My family absolutely loved watching this comedy! It was so much fun and had everyone laughing from start to finish. That being said, non-Chinese speakers might find it a bit difficult to fully grasp the unique humor of a Stephen Chow film like Kungfu Soccer. See more Delbert B Oct 25, 2026 ⚽🥋 I finally got to see Kung Fu Soccer. Ever since I saw the trailer years ago, I've been hoping this movie would find its way to the United States. As a fan of Stephen Chow and Shaolin Soccer, I couldn't pass up the opportunity. What I enjoyed most was the film's willingness to embrace its absurdity. This isn't a realistic sports movie. It's a movie that combines martial arts, comedy, and soccer into something completely its own.The action is energetic, the humor is goofy, and the movie never seems concerned with playing things safe.If you're expecting a serious sports drama, you may find it a little too over-the-top.But if you're a fan of Stephen Chow's style of storytelling, there's plenty of fun to be had.More than anything, I was happy to finally cross this one off my watchlist after waiting so many years for it to arrive in America.🍿 Verdict: Worth a Theater Night for Stephen Chow fans. See more David L @david1211 1 day ago Frankly I didn't laugh at all when I watch this movie, but I really enjoy the story, the message and all details Xing Ye hiding behind. When you follow Stephen Chow movies and his life long enough, you will get it. Besides I enjoyed the football games, they bring me back to my childhood with Captain Tsubasa, Itto Katori, and all the games I have played with my friend, my dad on Playstation. And if you have a background knowledge of China history, culture, Wu Xia novel there will be even more surprise when watching this movie. I rate it as 4.5 star, the rest half star is only because missing Stepen Chow in this movie. See more EeWei T @RT66701864 3 days ago Even though the comedy's material are recycling all his own previous works. I still find it really enjoyable to watch. Have to give props to Xing Ye (Stephen Chow) for all the football matches action scenes! Still pretty creative! I enjoyed the movies very much. However, it is still fell short if comparing to all Xing Ye's earlier masterpieces! See more @RT29211430 5 days ago The spirit of women's football is, at its core, simple yet remarkably powerful: to persist, to unite, and to let love for the game itself be the greatest driving force .even in an environment that has long underestimated them. Compared to men's football, women's football often faces more real world challenges. uneven resource allocation, lower public visibility, social stereotypes… Yet it is precisely these external pressures that forge a purer sportsmanship. They play not just to win or lose, but to prove that "we, too, deserve to stand at the center of the pitch." This journey from the margins to the mainstream carries within it a quiet but resolute defiance. Director Stephen Chow cleverly infuses the film with his signature comedic style, filling the theater with laughter from start to finish. A wonderful film for the whole family.absolutely fantastic!
