Marco L @decatur555 Aug 21 La Fiera is an impressively produced and beautifully photographed film about people who find something in extreme flight that ordinary life cannot provide. Salvador Calvo stages the aerial sequences with remarkable energy, using landscapes, movement and an excellent soundtrack to communicate freedom, friendship and exhilaration. What makes the film interesting for me, however, is that I still cannot fully understand its characters’ need to keep returning to such extraordinary risks. Their friendship is much easier to grasp, and the film is strongest when it stops explaining and simply lets image, sound and emotion speak for them. My own memories of having known Darío Barrio also give the story an unavoidable personal weight. Technically impressive and emotionally effective, even if the central impulse behind these lives remains something I can observe but never truly share. See more Read all reviews
