What to Know

Critics Consensus

Director Lee Cronin's take on The Mummy injects some juicy gore and personal stakes into the classic horror setup, but the scares in this gross-out extravaganza get entombed by a padded running time.

The director mostly reshapes what a mummy actually is to suit his lackluster whims. Go to Full Review

All these moments are good for audience groans and there’s an enjoyable bad movie here for the seizing. Go to Full Review

Cronin fills the film with striking imagery; moments of pure horror that can make even the most hardened of horror veterans squirm in their seats. Go to Full Review

Lee Cronin’s The Mummy is gruesome for sure, but lacks much in the way of depth, or Evil Dead Rise’s sense of fun. Go to Full Review

The film surrounds itself with the dumbest, most uncaring people in the world reacting like no other human would in any given situation that it becomes impossible to offer any empathy yourself as to what has happened to this poor girl. Go to Full Review

Darren Kerner 3h Some parts predictable but kept your attention. See more Jenny 3h The movie was so creepy and disgusting but we loved it! Definitely a must see See more John D 4h The movie went off the rails with overdone gore and seemed to be confusing grotesque nonsense with scary, mysterious and suspenseful. The gore had been done before and just repeated from other movies. It's attempted shock factor blew up what was a pretty solid retake of the Mummy storyline. Not worth a 50 trip to the movies or the theater run time. Give us something decent Hollywood! One positive is that acting was solid. See more DV 8h It didn’t really feel like an epic “mummy” movie with mythical scenes and pyramids, instead it felt like a recreation of the exorcist or the grudge filled with gory scenes. The plot felt all over the place and forced. Not scary at all. See more keeping it real 8h Whoever says this isn’t worth seeing are the worst critics. This has an ORIGINAL STORYLINE! Essentially three horror genres in one - mummy/exorcist/evil dead. Definitely worth checking out.
