Critics Consensus

Similar to the original in all the right ways -- but with enough changes to stand on its own -- Let Me In is the rare Hollywood remake that doesn't add insult to inspiration.

Cloverfield director Matt Reeves has been charged with filling Alfredson's considerable boots, and he does a fine job of not steering too far from the original, while also putting his own stamp on the vampire tale.

Exploring the world of good and evil is a common theme in cinema, but few have been able to create such a fine line between the two as cleverly done in Let Me In.

Let Me In doesn't need to exist unless, that is, the very notion of Swedish cinema is strange and unpalatable to you.

Matt Reeves delivers a decent remake that stands on its own thanks to its atmospheric tone, though it tends to lose some of its chilling effect as it attempts to follow in the footsteps of the original Swedish vampire horror film. [Full review in Spanish]

Fully succeeds at what it seemingly wanted to be: a less good version of a fantastic horror movie, but American.

A faithful, beautifully shot and genuinely chilling adaptation that stands on its own, even if it lives in the shadow of the Swedish original.

7/10 Suspense / Drama Boy is lonely and bullied at school. Takes place in cold dark setting. People in the town get murdered. Turns out the weird girl next door who befriends boy needs blood because she is a vampire. Her guardians need to drain people of blood or she will starve.

This version of Let the Right One In turned out amazing! The touch of director Matt Reeves and cinematographer Greig Fraser gave the film a distinct personality. The character adaptation was truly impressive, the central duo was a real standout, and the film’s emotional weight really shone through, when Abby reveals her true self, the tension becomes incredibly intense, demonstrating just how powerful a vampire is, regardless of their form.

Not the best vampire movie but Cara Buono is in it but the movie does a total disservice to her by not showing her face, WTF.
