Drina W @RT49065329 4d WTF was the ending? It didn't even make sense. It felt like a lazy way to create cinematic "mystique" since nothing else in the film supported it. Much different than say All of Us Strangers where when you find out one of the main characters was a spirit, it all comes together, and in a poetic way. This ending felt like a jolt-ey halt. Sort of like teen sex. But the pleasure in this film is the acting. The actors kept me going. This movie had potential, even the writing during the beginning and middle. After that, the movie goes rapidly downhill. Uma Thurman, a survivor, is fifteen years later the mother of a young daughter. We see her jogging in nature with a revealing outfit showing her deep cleavage for several seconds. But, surprise! She sends her daughter to a Catholic school with actual nuns. Contrast this with Sweeney in Christy where the point is acting and not the actress’s anatomy. After that we start having various flashbacks which was my signal to stop watching. Time spent 18:20. I don't understand where the daughter went and I didn't understand the husband with the other woman and then I had to read the synopsis in order to understand what happened so I guess the other woman was really her correct? See more 06/21/2021 This has spoilers: I was so irritated to get to the damn ending that when it happened, and it had a meaningless twist, I was angered that I had wasted my time on this. This is one of the most drawn-out movies I've seen in years. So basically, adult Diana's guilt doesn't come from her choosing her friend to die but instead comes from...what? If indeed her character dies as a teenager and this is her imagined future during her dying moments, then why is the guilt played so heavily? It ends up being the proverbial red herring, as I anticipated that once she admitted her guilt in having her friend die instead of herself, she would finally be free, and that indeed would have been a profound scene. But instead we get... THIS. I'm more pissed at having watched a pretentious movie than a flat-out bad one. It gets one and a half stars for the performances, which were fine. The story? Zero stars.
