Emilie Warnock (Maggie Grace), the daughter of the American president, leads a humanitarian mission to MS One, an outer-space prison in which the 500 most dangerous criminals from Earth are kept in a state of artificial sleep. Just as Emilie arrives, the now-awakened prisoners stage a violent rebellion, and she and the MS One crew are taken hostage. Emilie's only chance for salvation lies with Snow (Guy Pearce), a wrongly convicted agent who has been promised his freedom if he saves her.

Guy Pearce does the best he can with what he's given, but Lockout is ultimately too derivative and shallow to build on the many sci-fi thrillers it borrows from.

Wrong place, wrong time. It’s a real shame that this film was rated so poorly when it first came out. Perhaps now, in 2025, it would have been highly successful and would have even received several sequels. The film is a solid action movie with dynamic action scenes, funny dialogues, and a plot that isn’t overly complicated. It has a good cast and great chemistry between the main characters. It’s easy to watch and goes by in one breath — an excellent movie for an evening. P.S. I love the film "Escape from New York," but I didn’t find anything in common with this one.

I just realized this is a complete ripoff of Escape From NY. But somehow I like it. Forget there’s gravity in a space shuttle. Forget there’s gravity on a space prison where the inmates are frozen in stasis. Why gravity then? Don’t try to connect logic to this movie. You either like it or more likely hate it.

This movie is bad. Why is there always a federal agent that thinks they know better than to follow procedures? Why wasn't there a reaction to the initial breach? It makes no sense. One man saves the day...too funny....Guy Pierce is entertaining and sure there's plenty of action, but geez the setup is just dumb.

Derivative? Yes. A trope machine? Yeah, I suppose so. Bottom line, though- if you just want to sit back, relax and enjoy a good ride, I think this is a wonderful movie. It doesn't take itself too seriously, the humor is understated, and Guy Pearce is magnetic as usual. Is it high cinema? Hell no. Is it a fantastic escapist 90-minute ride? Hell yes.
