Kalissa H @kali_416 Aug 10 I hadn’t seen this since it first came out and it’s decent. It’s a heartwarming film, but it is cheesy at times. Martin was absolutely rotten, but everything worked out at the end for Simon. I never liked Simon’s friends ditching him but they were understandably upset about being manipulated. At the same time, Simon was being blackmailed and was only a kid. The blue reveal was set up with a red herring, so it was more surprising. Overall watchable. A warm, honest film about the fear of how everything might change after coming out: friendships, family, the way people look at you. Nick Robinson plays the role well, and his respective scenes with both Jennifer Garner, and Josh Duhamel after they learn his sexuality are powerful. I happily rewatch this.
