Aimee M @Aimeetwoees 3d Lucky Number Slevin is the cinematic equivalent of walking into the wrong bar, ordering the wrong drink, and somehow ending up in the middle of a revenge plot involving enough double-crosses to require a spreadsheet. The movie is slick, twisted, ridiculously entertaining, and best of all the dialogue is genuinely funny. Ben Kingsley brings the menace. Then the movie starts peeling back the layers like an onion with a body count. Sharp dialogue. Great twists. Josh Hartnett is effortlessly cool, Bruce Willis is basically human smirk, and the whole cast talks like they’ve been waiting their entire lives for the chance to verbally stab somebody. The dialogue is ridiculously quotable, the twists keep twisting, and the movie has enough swagger to make a chessboard feel like a crime scene. It’s slick, funny, violent, and just smug enough to get away with it. Lucky Number Slevin doesn’t merely have a plot, it has a fucking attitude. And by the time everything clicks into place, you’ll want to rewind the whole damn thing and watch it again. See more Kris G @RT77773133 Aug 26 This is one of those films that is actually brilliantly done. So many people claim it rips off Taratino and I think that sells this movie far too short. The dialogue is fantastic, the set pieces are gorgeous, and the twist everyone claims is predictable, but is still incredibly satisfying. Perhaps could a director's cut make it a bit harder to figure out ahead of time? Sure. Maybe. However, if you go into this film with no expectations and just want to have a good time, this film truly delivers quite the payoff. Is it the best film ever? Maybe not, but the critics here clearly are wrong, this is in no way trying to copy Pulp Fiction, it is its own thing. Why the critics loved The Departed but scoff at this film is puzzling to me. The Departed was absurdly fast paced in some sequences and gave little breathing room for some plot points. Meanwhile, Lucky Number Sleven gives everything balance and room to breathe with action and dialogue.
