Critics Consensus

Mandy's gonzo violence is fueled by a gripping performance by Nicolas Cage -- and anchored with palpable emotion conveyed between his volcanic outbursts.

I didn't much care for the film, but I can see how it might appeal to gorehounds and fans of genre cinema. Go to Full Review

Beautifully-shot film, although sometimes the use of processed grain and lens flares were distracting. The second half was exactly what I wanted, but the first half is a bit slow. Go to Full Review

It starts in the woods in 1983 and ends up in some crazy fantasy land that I don’t understand, but I love it nonetheless. Go to Full Review

A revenge melodrama that practically pulsates with human agony while radiating a psychological/surreal intensity that is simultaneously seductive and repellant. This might be great filmmaking. It might be trash. I could make a case for either. Go to Full Review

Bailey H @IronChild 2d Hands down one of my favourite movies. Once you get past the first twenty minutes it just keeps getting better and better. This surreal, thriller, revenge story with psychedelic-drug-trip visuals, features Nicolas cage at his finest. See more Steven F. @SteveGotScored 2d Easily my favorite Nicholas Cage movie! See more Max L. @maxlord Jan 10 Best film of the decade. It’s a Black Sabbath album cover made into movie. Metal af. The less you know going into it the better. Like, I can see how you can efficiently set moods through visuals and sound, just don't use all that mood overkill to gaslight the audience into thinking the movie is deep or good. In terms of mood and build-up, less can be more unless the script is speeding, man. The opposite should be said about the script, a couple more pages of depth wouldn't have hurt. It would be one of my favorite art house short films if it were 40 minutes long. 40 minutes of this intensity without all of the linger and I'm invested in seeing what else this director has to offer next, but just as the main antagonist in this movie, this movie thinks it's cooler than it is. If you're 18 and experimenting with psychedelics, give it a spin though, you'll love it. Just don't take any of it seriously. You'll even enjoy the out of place mood breaking animated bits. Props to Nic though, nobody else would have made his part work. See more Michael D. @omglikeimsoosure Oct 4 Many is a hypnotic, blood-soaked descent into madness where color and violence become their own language. The neon-drenched palette saturates every frame, making the gore feel both nightmarish and strangely beautiful, like violence painted in ultraviolet. The film’s hallucinatory rhythm keeps you unsteady, blurring the line between reality and trip, while its occult undertones give every ritual, every scream, a mythic weight. It’s not just horror—it’s a full-body experience, equal parts psychedelic and brutal, and one of the most unforgettable genre films of the decade. See more Read all reviews
