Strange things are afoot in the depths of the sea. First a passenger plane vanishes over the Pacific Ocean. Then an oil platform is obliterated. Marine biologist Emma MacNeil is dispatched to investigate the phenomena, and, with the help of Japanese scientist Seiji Shimada, she makes a discovery that will rock the world: An enormous prehistoric shark and a giant octopus have been awakened from their icy slumbers -- and they're hungry.

Critics Consensus

With shoddy FX, acting and directing. This isn't so bad it's good. It's just so bad it's terrible.

This film is bad on every level. In fact, it's bad on levels hitherto unexplored by mainstream cinema.

What a drag. This grabby-titled disaster flick - splashing across the pond on a tidal wave of chuckly publicity - is a damp squib.

It's beyond incompetent, and it probably also sounds like it's a hoot and a holler as a result. This is not the case.

If ever there was a film that seemed designed with Mystery Science Theater 3000 in mind, this is it.

This movie is just boring. So bad that I made my profile just to write this review. Just skip to the very end fight, as it’s the most interesting part of the movie anyway. You’ll be glad you did.

I wasn’t going into this movie expecting an life changing experience but I wanted to have so bad it’s good laughs and while they were some moments with the terrible script, flat acting and the usual Asylum awful CGI but the rest was so dull that isn’t worth watching
