What to Know

Critics Consensus

Rosalind Eleazar is resoundingly ready for her closeup in Misty Green, a satire of stardom that's as fleeting as Hollywood fame but elevated by its marvelous central performance.

Eleazar has such a firm grasp of who Misty is, of both how she sins and is sinned against, that Rock’s failures can almost be overlooked. Go to Full Review

Eleazar, a Brit who’s best known stateside for the Apple TV series “Slow Horses,” is a revelation. Her Misty has a determined, confident walk, like she’s perpetually ready to march into better lighting, and a gaze that could freeze the L.A. sun. Go to Full Review

Misty Green is a small yet principled corrective to the larger problem it diagnoses: it’s a terrific vehicle for a Black actress who knows how few terrific or even good vehicles there are for Black actresses. Go to Full Review

[Chris Rock's] film observes Misty with a mixture of irony, frustration, and affection that avoids turning her into an exemplary victim or a moral caricature. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Rosalind Eleazar delivers a powerhouse performance in Chris Rock’s uneven Hollywood drama. Its sharp humor and timely critique of racism and sexism are compelling, but convoluted subplots and a faltering finale keep it from reaching its full potential. Go to Full Review

Felicia A Oct 22, 2026 Good story, much better than I anticipated. See more KK Oct 21, 2026 Loved this movie. The whole premise of it was great! Acting and casting is right on the money. A lot of REAL TRUTHS shown throughout, regardless if it’s bleak. Give it to us raw. Honestly I felt all the emotions, the highs and the lows. Truly enjoyed this gem. What a project by Chris Rock! See more Micheal Oct 18, 2026 Phenomenal and realistic, depiction of LA. Completely pulled the curtains back. See more Brian Bitting Oct 17, 2026 Great performances, plot, subplot, climax...everything! Acting on a God-tier level! See more jesse v Oct 16, 2026 it's just a story about an angst/feisty woman going through the motions of an audition for a movie (which boils down to relationships equals network connections). the production of the movie l, such as cinematography, is great, but it just needed better likeable characters. also, why doesn't misty have a cell phone, where she could have read the emails, with cell service? also I've never heard the term "biracial" replacing "mixed" in today's lexicon. everyone sucks here, even the showbiz people. also why did misty and the guy left UNSCATHED from the car crash?? and why are there racial issues spoken by the car radio sprinkled throughout?? scene pacing for the most part is jumpy. Also what the HECK HAPPENED to the character Jay's personality throughout the movie??? also why was everyone dancing on the plane and why was there a club scene at dubai with dr. Dre? But hey, at least we got to see more angles of Los Angeles this year. also mentioning mental illness health in this film plus homelessness to the point of doing a taboo ad is very weird. See more linda manners Oct 10, 2026 The movie was good and a twist st the end. singing was very good. See more Read all reviews
