Some good performances help pull this out of a melodramatic quagmire, but in the end the light doesn't shine in this sleepy story.

A terrific cast, headed by Elizabeth Perkins and Whoopi Goldberg, elevates this earnest melodrama up to a point, but director Anspaugh can't find the center of a drama whose issue is rather timely: coming to terms with loss.

I love this movie. Watching these women rally around their friend/family who has suffered a loss and letting her grieve her way is amazing. In the end they all find a way to move forward in life with a little more peace.

I loved that it was simple, beautiful and focused on women’s relationships and support of one another. I was positively surprised.
