Moonrise Kingdom makes a winning appeal to the precious joys of the pre-teen imagination circa 1965. Go to Full Review

The film is frequently funny, always elegant (or mock-elegant), and something that would make Humbert Humbert laugh all the way to his asylum. Go to Full Review

A bittersweet story about first love and finding a home, it's also the rare Anderson film that feels as much a part of its genre as part of the director's oeuvre. Go to Full Review

Wes Anderson really has something significant going on here with this endless entertaining story filled with surprises, budding romance, and subtle twists along the way. Go to Full Review

Wes Anderson often gets (unfairly) pigeonholed as a one-note whimsy machine, but he proves he is so much more in the brilliant Moonrise Kingdom, where we see his habitual sweetness offset with somberness. Go to Full Review

Brian 5d It’s more of a the nostalgia for me. I didn’t get to see this movie when it came out but I’m so glad Alamo drafthouse has screenings for these type of films. I enjoyed every second!!! See more Michael C @Michael71 5d Definitely one of 2012's best movies. My personal favorite from that year in fact. One thing I always find to be a problem with many movies I see is predictability. More often then not, I know where a story is going. I was pleasantly surprised to see that is not the case with "Moonrise Kingdom" which I believe to be director Wes Anderson's magnum opus (He also co-wrote the script with Francis Ford Coppola's son Roman. The script was nominated for an Oscar. I still say it should have won.). The turns the story took kept me interested and entertained from start to finish. Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward are nothing short of excellent in their film debuts as Sam Shakusky and Suzy Bishop respectively. They are helped by an equally as excellent supporting cast. Edward Norton deserves a Commendable for his performance as the proud Khaki Scout Master. I wish I were able to go on and on about how great a movie "Moonrise Kingdom" is. I highly recommend you see the movie when possible. See more Trevor B @TrevBills Apr 14 I just.... don;t... GET IT!!! See more Aurelie M @RT82664410 Apr 12 weird, quirky and incredibly unique. Amazing cinematography. I highly recommend it. See more Levi J @Lev77 Mar 31 Funny, well-acted masterpiece from the great Wes Anderson with a wonderful screenplay!
