The year is 1965, and the residents of New Penzance, an island off the coast of New England, inhabit a community that seems untouched by some of the bad things going on in the rest of the world. Twelve-year-olds Sam and Suzy have fallen in love and decide to run away. But a violent storm is approaching the island, forcing a group of quirky adults to mobilize a search party and find the youths before calamity strikes.

It’s more of a the nostalgia for me. I didn’t get to see this movie when it came out but I’m so glad Alamo drafthouse has screenings for these type of films. I enjoyed every second!!!

Definitely one of 2012's best movies. My personal favorite from that year in fact. One thing I always find to be a problem with many movies I see is predictability. More often then not, I know where a story is going. I was pleasantly surprised to see that is not the case with "Moonrise Kingdom" which I believe to be director Wes Anderson's magnum opus (He also co-wrote the script with Francis Ford Coppola's son Roman. The script was nominated for an Oscar. I still say it should have won.). The turns the story took kept me interested and entertained from start to finish. Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward are nothing short of excellent in their film debuts as Sam Shakusky and Suzy Bishop respectively. They are helped by an equally as excellent supporting cast. Edward Norton deserves a Commendable for his performance as the proud Khaki Scout Master. I wish I were able to go on and on about how great a movie "Moonrise Kingdom" is. I highly recommend you see the movie when possible.
