"Munich" (2005) is Steven Spielberg excellent and epic movie about events that took place after an infamous and bloody tragedy that happened at Munich Olympic games. I have seen many films about those events itself before, but never about what happened after, which is a very realistic tale of revenge. Directing by Steven Spielberg was excellent in here - "Munich" is a hardly forgettable movie that explores in depth events and people related to a plan to execute those responsible for the tragedy. It's a long film and it's pacing is a bit of a problem - it takes many detours from a main storyline but due to good script, great performances, terrific settings this film is worth rewatching even some 20 years after its release. Overall, "Munich" is an excellent Spielberg movie, his one of the more compelling ones about real events. It is relevant today probably even more then in 2005. I was just wondering if Steven Spielberg would want to make a film about the terrorist and genocidal state of Israel and the 70,000 civilians it has massacred, not to mention the decades of abuses and crimes against the Palestinian population. But there are other aspects of the film that detracted a little from my enjoyment. For example, the fact that almost everything was filmed in Malta and passed off as countries such as Italy, Greece, or Lebanon when it is clearly not. In addition, there are some members of the group whose role is not clear to me. The result is a morally ambiguous thriller that keeps circling back to unsettling questions — chief among them: how far would you be willing to go to avenge your own people?
