I see it as a positive that films like this can be released and they won't please everyone, but are at least experimental and interesting. I would encourage people to give it a chance, particularly if you have enjoyed modern-day twists on noir.

Refreshingly different but not pretentious. Alexander Skarsgård's performance throughout was emotionally spectacular, taking his character on a personal evolution in more ways than one. Definitely watch Mute if you appreciate a movie that doesnt rely on idiotic over explanations and eye roll inducing extended directors cut fight scenes.

***SPOILERS*** A slow and incoherent story made this movie a drag to sit through. There were some intriguing moments, and the visual atmosphere of the movie was beautiful, but the more the story dragged on, the more I lost interest. Paul Rudd's character was the best part of the movie for me, even though he turned out to be the bad guy. It's not the worst movie in the world, but I've definitely seen better.

Great idea and implementation of creating a cyberpunk Berlin. Something is missing for it to be really great but overall liked it. What I am missing is probably a key arc or point to this movie. Yes I understand the many side-stories. But what is the main story? A detective story? A revenge story? A love story? A story about (the complexity of) madness? It's all in there but none is worked out enough to qualify as THE main focus of the film. Good acting though and decent dialogues, although the characters are acting rather randomly and switching between emotions and dispositions towards other characters at times drastically, for apparently no reason, but that is how it is with Hollywood movies - the need to surprise the viewer in each scene has its price.

Don’t believe the reviews. This is a classic with such a good story and strong acting. I’ve watched this several times and it’s always moving and so watchable. Brilliant cast and amazing film!
