Marco L @decatur555 Feb 9, 2025 Daniel Guzmán's Nothing in Return is one of those films that grabs you because it feels so close. Maybe it's because it takes place in Batán, Paseo de Extremadura and other corners of Madrid I know well, but it's also an authenticity you can't fake. No gimmicks, no exaggeration. What hooked me most is how natural the dialogue sounds, like overhearing people on the street. Guzmán captures that tricky moment when you stop being a kid and start facing the adult world, with a mix of tenderness and rawness that hits without big melodrama. The story looks simple but is full of moments that stir you up. The cast is another strength. The lead nails that blend of rebellion and fragility we've all felt. It deals with hard themes, yet there's humor that makes you smile without clashing. The neighborhood becomes almost a character in itself. It moves you through its simplicity and needs no decoration to reach the heart. See more Read all reviews
